Sun Prairie Civic Theatre exists because many volunteers share their time or talents (onstage, backstage and behind-the-scenes) to bring the shows and programs to the community.​ Interested? We'd love to have you join us.

​Whether your handy with a hammer, skilled with a screwdriver, or ready to lend some extra muscle to any task, SPCT could use your help with:
  • Constructing or building sets
  • Hauling or moving set pieces
  • Maintaining the rehearsal facility

love crafts and treasure hunts?

If you love to spend time at the sewing machine, getting crafty, or hunting for the perfect item at thrift stores, flea markets or online, you might love:
  • Sewing, altering or finding costumes for shows
  • Working on creating or locating the perfect prop
  • Dressing the set with furniture and accent pieces
volunteers hand out programs, greet the audience and sell tickets to make people feel welcome

have fun welcoming others?

Whether you always have a smile on your face, find yourself greeting everyone you see, or enjoy pulling together a good party, SPCT can use your help:
  • Selling tickets or concessions at shows
  • Greeting and handing out programs at shows
  • Planning social parties and activities for members

keen on getting the word out?

If scrapbooking about your latest adventure, writing in a journal, or sharing updates on social media are things you enjoy, share your talents by:
  • Writing articles and releases to promote shows
  • Taking people behind-the-scenes with social media
  • Helping create show graphics, programs and more

play an instrument?

Live music adds energy and excitement to a performance you can't get with a recorded track. If you play a musical instrument and have an interest in playing in the pit for a future musical, let us know. Musicians receive a small stipend in appreciation for sharing their talents.

great at organizing details?

​If you're talented at making sure the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed, and enjoy creating structure amidst the chaos, consider helping out with:
  • Producing a show
  • Licensing shows and renting performance facilities
  • Arranging sign-language interpreters

Whether you're skilled with a paintbrush, enjoy graphic illustration, or find it fun to create new looks with make-up, SPCT can use your talents:
  • Designing and painting sets
  • Helping actors with their hair or make-up​

geek out working with tech?

If you love playing around with computer software, programming technology around the house, or adjusting controls until things are just right, consider helping with:
  • Programming and working the lightboard
  • Outfitting performers with mics backstage

Whether you enjoy driving around town, don't mind asking businesses to support a good cause, or just find it fun to meet new people, consider helping with:
  • ​Distributing posters to local restaurants and stores
  • Raising funds through sponsorships and patronage

interested in acting? 

Bringing a character to life on stage can be exhilarating. At SPCT, there are roles for all ages throughout the year. Auditions for most shows are typically held 9 to 12 weeks prior to the start of performances. The best way to learn about upcoming auditions is to join the SPCT email list.

The SPCT Board of Directors is always searching for passionate directors who enjoy working with creative and talented members of the community.

Each year, we're searching for musicals, non-musical comedies or dramas, and a children's theatre production. If you have a show you'd like to bring to the stage, we'd love to hear from you.
