about the show

The SPCT Children's Theatre Double Feature is truly children's theatre for children by children. The show opens with the delightful adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl story James and the Giant Peach. This musical adventure follows a boy and his insect friends as they embark on a courageous journey across the ocean. All the actors in the show will feature performers going into grades 3 through 8 in the fall. The production roles behind the scenes and backstage are all filled by high-school interns (grades 9 through 12) who are mentored by adults in the role.

Following intermission, audiences will have the opportunity to seize the day with the spirited musical Disney's Newsies JR. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, this is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway Musical, based on the 1992 film, the whole family will enjoy. The cast will feature actors entering grades 9 through 12 in the fall who all helped bring the first act to life behind the scenes in various production roles.

Two fun-filled musicals back-to-back in one family friendly performance.

Performances run about 140 minutes including intermission.
